Detweiller Park, the home of the IHSA state championships, every high school runner dreams of racing there. Sometimes that dream becomes an reality and as the saying goes "Be careful for what you ask for." Well this was not high school but it was Detweiller. The version of Det where there has been no rain for a month and thousands of high schooler "stirring up" the dust in previous weekends. The Bradley Intercollegiate has grown into a near 30 team meet of colleges and universities from thoughout the Midwest. The Blue Devils were positioned in box 1, ten strong. The 8K course was the standard set up for the IHSA State Meet later in the fall, but with loops added to gain the near 2 miles needed to reach the 8K distance. The excitement of the day for the Blue Devils was the trio of Oliver Lee, Brady Marshall, and Blake Heimann all finishing under 30 minutes with times of 29:13, 29:31, and 29:51. The fourth counter was Andrew Latham in 30:04 just missing getting under the mark. Number five was Jack Walters, whom was back from illness, in a time of 31:26. Will Tepe finished in 32:24 and Noah Markus in 33:32. The Devils finished 19th out of 23 full teams and over 235 runners. "We learned a lot about ourselves and there were seveal postives, as with everything there will always be some pitfalls or wrong turns. You just have to learn and move foward."
