The bus ride was scenic through Southern illinois and across the Mississippi River into Missouri. A little adjustment in the directions, allowed us to explore other part of the Cape, but once we arrived the venue was well prepared. The cousre was fast easy for what could be seen, but the drop into the woods was full of surprises. The young KC freshmen step up for their first college race with Brady Marshall leading the way over the 5K distance in a time of 17:51. The next Blue Devil to cross the finish was Caidien Beer in a time of 18:05, followed by Oliver Lee in a time of 18:23. The 4 counter was Branson Pappas in a time of 18:29 and the 5th was Blake Heimann in a time of 18:34. The 1-5 pack time of 43 seconds was a great effort to hold together. Jack Walters was next in 19:10 followed by Zerek Koch in 19:39. Andrew Latham, Will Tepe, and Noah Markus rounded out the line up with times of 19:50, 19:54, and 20:31. I was impressed by the efforts of all of the freshmen, their was a lot nerves going into the race. The 10 team field that made up the race was mostly OVC teams and the 8th place finish overall was a great start.
