Steven Julian of Louisville, KY and Brooke Moll of Perryville, MO Named Kaskaskia College Athletes of the Year

The Kaskaskia College Athletic Department announced last night that Steven Julian of Louisville, KY and Brooke Moll of Perryville, MO were named the Male and Female Athletes of the Year. 

Sophomore Steven Julian is a member of the KC Blue Devils basketball team.  He has a cumulative GPA of 3.8 and has been a member of the basketball team for two years.  He was named 1st Team All-Region and was the 2nd leading rebounder in the conference and region this year.  His accolades this year include being named MVP, leading rebounder, top defensive player and team captain.  He has recently signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and basketball career at Cornell University. 

According to KC Coach Brian Hancock, "Steven is a highly motivated student-athlete in the classroom and on the basketball court.  He brought a great deal of energy and enthusiasm to practices and games.  He has made great strides over his two seasons at KC and is a very consistent in his efforts.  I know he has a bright future in front of him and I am honored on his selection as Male Athlete of the Year".

Sophomore Brooke Moll is a member of the Blue Angels Soccer Team.  She will be graduating May 12 with a 4.0.  Brooke started every game for KC in her two years and was selected team captain her sophomore year.  She primarily was an outside defender but also played center defender, center midfield, and even occasionally a forward.  This year Brooke was named 1st team all-region. She was also selected as one of the top five players in the region and therefore nominated to be an All-American.  Brooke was named team MVP her freshman and sophomores years as a Blue Angel.  She is currently being recruited by several schools including Missouri Southern State University, Lindenwood Belleville University, Missouri Baptist University, and Central Methodist University. 

According to Coach Joe Basch, "Brooke is an exemplary student-athlete.  She is successful on and off the field and was always eager to help her teammates.  Because of her exceptional GPA, she has also tutored several KC athletes in various academic subjects.  I am very happy for Brooke to receive this award".
