The Kaskaskia College Athletic Department announced last night that Bryce Beckmann of Germantown and Kylie Bilek of Perryville, MO were named the Male and Female Athletes of the Year.

Sophomore Bryce Beckmann is a member of the KC Blue Devils baseball team.  He has a cumulative GPA of 3.81 and has been a member of the baseball team for two years.  Last year, Bryce earned the Dale "Smiley" Renchen Hustle Award.  His accolades this year include team leader in batting average, hits, doubles, and RBIs and second on the team in triples. He will be continuing his baseball and academic career at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO where he has earned a baseball scholarship. He will be studying Criminal Justice.

According to KC Coach Mitch Koester, "Bryce is a tremendous worker on and off the field. He is the type of kid who leads by example. He is always hustling on the field at practice and during games. I never have to worry about him getting his work in to get better. He has been a leader this year to the younger guys in that hard work pays off."

Sophomore Kylie Bilek is a member of the Blue Angels soccer team.  She will be graduating with a 3.7 GPA.  Kylie was a two-year starter on the soccer team and was 2nd on the team in scoring and was named an Academic All-American as a freshman. During her sophomore season, she led the team in scoring with 24 goals and 11 assists, which ranked her 16th nationally in goals scored and 18th nationally in total points.  Kylie was the NJCAA D1 national player of the week for the week of September 25 - October 1.  During that week, Kylie was leading the country in scoring and led the team to a #20 national ranking. At the conclusion of the season, Kylie was named to the 1st team Region 24 and was nominated by the region for NJCAA All-American consideration.  In her career at KC, Kylie amassed 36 goals and 17 assists.  She will be continuing her education and soccer career at Lindenwood University-Belleville in the fall on an athletic scholarship. She is also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Phi-Theta Kappa, and the Trio program.

According to Coach Joe Basch, "Kylie was not only a stellar soccer player here at KC but also heavily involved outside of athletics. She was elected by her fellow students to represent KC as the student-trustee.  She was recently awarded the ICCTA Gigi Campbell Award. Kylie has been a joy to coach and has always been a true team player on and off the field.
